I’m a candidate for Charter Commission for District 5, Portland’s Riverton, North Deering and Deering Center neighborhoods.
People First Charter, an “organization” of a handful of people, has been running attacks against other candidates throughout Portland.
These tactics – whether they are used by the right or the left – are dividing our nation and our city. PACs run by unaccountable political operatives should have no say in our city charter.
These tactics risk delegitimizing the process of revising our charter and deceiving the public on what is at stake.
I’ve met many of the “People First”-endorsed candidates on the campaign trail. Many are appalled at the tactics that have been used in their name, without their consent.
I’m proud to say that I have not been endorsed by this group.
If you need me, I’ll be out knocking on doors and listening to the people of District 5.
