Permits for short-term rentals are now available in Cape Elizabeth.

As of July 1, no short-term rental is allowed to operate or be advertised without a permit, according to the town, and all permit applications must be complete to be processed. Required documentation includes a floor plan, evacuation plan and parking plan.

To register online, applicants must create an account at capeelizabeth.com and fill out an application that includes name of owner and/or applicant, the parcel ID, location of property, whether the residence is hosted or unhosted and when it will be available. The fee is $500 for a new application and $250 for a renewal.
