PORTLAND – Brian George Lowell passed away at his home earlier this year at the age of 77.

Brian was born in Portland on July 13, 1943. He graduated from Deering High School and the University of Maine. Brian served in the Coast Guard as a sergeant in the 112th Medical Company, he also served in the Army National Guard and Air National Guard.

Brian worked many years in the Maritime Industry. He was a licensed chief engineer, a certified welder and shipfitter. Later in life, Brian earned his degree in ministry and served in many capacities: four years as an International Port Chaplin for Chesapeake International Seafarers Ministry, volunteered with Transport for Christ and Prison Ministry

Brian was a life-long learner. He was a gentle, quiet man who spent much of his later years immersed in his faith and growing his relationship with God. He enjoyed missionary work, sharing his faith and Nascar.

Brian is predeceased by his parents Beatrice and Stanley Lowell of Portland; as well as his sister-in-law, Betty Lowell of New Hampshire.

Brian is survived by his two sons, Chris Lowell (Texas); and Ron Lowell and his wife, Cindy and their two children, Hannah and Haley (Maine); his two brothers, Jeffrey Lowell of New Hampshire; and Craig Lowell and his wife, Verna and daughter Nichole of Maine.

A private graveside service will be held in September.
