TSgt Peter Elliott Morrison

BIDDEFORD – Retired TSgt Peter Elliott Morrison, U.S. Air Force, 78, of Biddeford, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 25, 2022, at Maine Medical Center, Portland, following complications after fighting cancer. Peter was born Sept. 7, 1943 in Flushing Queens, N.Y., the son of Elliott G. and Marion Maguire Morrison, and attended Farmingdale High School, Long Island, N.Y. On the spur of a moment, Peter joined the United States Air Force, and once inducted, the trajectory of his life changed for the better, simultaneously earning his high school diploma and an associate degree from the University of Maryland. He was able to put his electronics abilities to good use, working on his favorite B-52 Bomber, the F4-E Phantom, and the F-15/16 fighter, as well as teaching electronics, CCD, and athletic director and softball coach!His career started at Dow AFB in Bangor, where he met his wife, Judy. He was transferred to Wiesbaden, Germany for four years, then volunteered for Vietnam after a five-month stay at Grand Forks, N.D. After his tour of duty, he went back to Wiesbaden for four additional years. Loring AFB was next for four years, then back to Hahn, Germany. The family says Germany held their fondest memories and considered it their second home. As his military career drew to a close, he was reassigned to Loring AFB, where he opened up a map for the state of Maine, stating “where the dart lands, that’s the area we are moving to”, and he hit just south of Portland, they settled in Old Orchard Beach. He was employed with several companies after his military career, including the former Results Engineering in Saco, Idexx, and IBM in Vermont for nine years. Peter kept himself busy with a retirement job at Portland International Jetport’s parking garage, where he had the opportunity to meet many famous people, repeat flyers like college students and businesspeople, and truly loved hearing about their life events! Peter enjoyed reading, woodworking, watching Westerns on TV and was a war history buff. Traveling road trips were very common, sometimes spontaneously, and the family jokes that they always started on Route 5!He is predeceased by his parents; his sisters Kathleen DeLuca and spouse Stephen, Barbara Corcoran; niece, Lynn M. Wood-Stenzhorn and nephew, Robert Wood.Survivors include his wife, Judy Morrison; daughter, Chellie Morrison and her spouse Carol Brewer of Scarborough; son, Michael Morrison, spouse Lisa, and granddaughter Hannah Morrison of Old Orchard Beach; sister, Patricia Wood of Georgia, brother, Robert Morrison of Pennsylvania; and several dear nieces, nephews; and extended families. Visiting hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk.
