Barbara Lee Field

SACO – Barbara Lee Warren Field, 78, of Saco, passed away following declining health on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, at Seal Rock Healthcare in Saco.

Barbara was born in Portland on April 24, 1943, a daughter of Arthur and Priscilla (Libby) Warren. She grew up at Camp Ellis Beach in Saco and was educated in Saco school system, graduating from Thornton Academy in 1961. While at Thornton she was involved in basketball, field hockey and was also a majorette.

Then she went to cosmetology school at Armand’s Beauty Academy and after moved to Washington D.C., closer to her soon to be husband, David, who was in the United States Navy. While in Washington she was employed by the White Castle Restaurant and the National Rifle Association. Barbara and David were married in Saco, April 20, 1963. They lived in Patuxent River, Md. and Lakehurst, N.J. before moving back to Maine and starting a family.

Over the years Barbara was employed by Components, Tupperware sales consultant, home daycare provider, Zayre, Lisa Pizza, John Hancock Insurance Company and her favorite job was working for the Rizeakos family at the Golden Rooster. Some of her other endeavors were working for the City of Saco at the election polls, an officer of the Amvets Auxiliary Post #1, a member of the Veterans Alliance, and belonging to the Appalachian Mountain Club.

She was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Priscilla Warren; and her brother-in-law, Donald Spiller.

Surviving Barbara is her husband, David, of 59 years; daughters Stacey Lamarre and her husband Brian of Saco, Wendy Staples and her husband Scott of Kennebunkport; grandchildren Jocelyn Lamarre, Kimberly Lamarre, Natasha Butler and her husband Case, and Marissa Staples and her fiancé Justin Melton; great-grandchildren Mallory, Flynn and Tahkota. She is also survived by siblings Carole Spiller of Pennsylvania and Cynthia Estano and her husband Chuck of Saco; and many nieces and nephews; and her best friend from childhood, Betsey Stoddard Mixer.

Barbara was well known for her love of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her friends and family, her love of animals, especially cats, spending time at the beach, camping trips to northern Maine for canoeing, kayaking and four wheeling, going to Martel’s ice cream, (orange pineapple in a waffle cone, her absolute favorite), and knitting.
