Philomena “Phillie” Caiazzo Vickerson

PORTLAND – Philomena “Phillie” Caiazzo Vickerson, 71, of Portland, passed away Jan. 30, 2022 at home after a long illness. Phillie was born on Dec. 14, 1950 in Portland, daughter of Assunta and Vincenzo Caiazzo. She attended Portland schools and graduated from Portland High School in 1969. In 1970, Phillie married the love of her life, Milton “Butch” Vickerson. They spent the majority of their lives on Munjoy Hill where they started their family.

She was employed for many years at Maine National Bank and the Portland Police Station. Phillie was very proud of her Italian Heritage. She loved the holidays especially Christmas where her family looked forward to her delicious cooking and all the Italian pastries.

Phillie was predeceased by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Butch; her sons Scott Vickerson and his wife Melissa of Westbrook and Peter Vickerson of Portland; three grandsons, Zachary, Nicholas and Reid Vickerson. She is also survived by brothers Thomas Caiazzo and his wife Julie Martin and Antonio “Tony” Caiazzo his wife Benita, sisters Grace Broy and Mary Crawford and her husband Mark. Phillie will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday Feb. 4 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave., with a funeral service to follow at 6 p.m.

Committal prayers will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at New Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
