Ronald J. Blaney

ST. GEORGE, Utah –
Ronald James Blaney passed away on Jan. 19, 2022 at the Retreat at Sunbrook Assisted Living Center in St. George, Utah.

He was born on April 2, 1931 at his grandparent’s home in Somersworth, N.H. He was the first child of Rhea E. (Aubin) and Thomas L. Blaney.

He graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School, in the class of 1949.

After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy, retiring after 20 years as a Senior Chief Radioman. He later worked for several communication companies, his final job being with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. where he worked for many years.

Ron was predeceased by his parents, brother Thomas L. and his wife Theresa Blaney; sisters Elaine M. DeGrace, Dorothea B. and her husband Roland Spencer, brothers Martin R. Blaney, Richard P. Blaney; and his oldest son, Ronald J. Blaney Jr.

He is survived by his son, Robert Blaney; grandson, Jason Blaney; and great-granddaughter, Adelina Blaney; also his brother, Daniel E., his wife Gail L. Blaney, brother-in-law Maynard DeGrace and sister-in-law Judith Blaney; along with six nephews, six nieces; and many great-nephews and nieces.

A private family service will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco, later in the spring.
