Lyndon Lewis Brett

PORTLAND – Lyndon Lewis Brett, 70, of Portland, passed away peacefully on Sunday Jan. 30, 2022, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House with family by his side.

He was born on June 12, 1951, in Portland, a beloved son of John L. and Virginia M. (Driskell) Brett of Portland. He attended local schools, graduating from Portland High School in 1969. He attended the University of Southern Maine and graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

He married Theresa A. Steward on May 31, 1980, and during their marriage, they had two children, Matthew Lyndon Brett (Danbury, Conn.) and Michael Lyndon Joseph Brett (Portland, Ore.). He was a caring, gentle man who never missed an opportunity to tell his family members how much he loved them and how proud he was of them.

Lyn was a member of Boy Scout Troop #14 and later a troop leader of Boy Scout Troop #41 of which his sons were members. He was very proud of both when they earned the recognition of Eagle Scout. He enjoyed telling stories of their many scouting trips and times spent at Camp Hinds.

He was a long-time member of the Triangle Lodge No. 1, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Portland, Maine. Lyn was proud of his career working for Portland Water District from 1981 to 2005 as a Control Center Operator.

Over the past 15 years, he was a resident at 75 State Street, Portland, where he made many friends and always enjoyed helping the other residents with anything they needed. While living there he discovered a talent for painting and created many beautiful works of art that are proudly displayed in the homes of family and friends. Lyn’s family would like to thank all the compassionate staff at 75 State Street who have cared for him over the years. He was loved by so many of you and we cannot thank you enough.

In addition to his children, he is survived by his sister, Lorena L. (Brett) Delcourt and her husband John C. Delcourt of Windham, and his sister-in-law Jamia E. (Telting) Brett of Oklahoma City, Okla.

He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Linda L. (Brett) Moore and his brother, Laurence L. Brett Sr. Lyn was part of a large extended family and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
