Rollanda “Randi” Buckingham Graumann

CUMBERLAND FORESIDE – Rollanda “Randi” Graumann, 78, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2022. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and is survived by her husband Warren, her two sons, Ted and Donald, their spouses Miranda and Laurie; and four granddaughters, Frida, Anais, Emily, and Abigail.

Randi was born in Rochester, N.Y. on Nov. 22, 1943, where she grew up and graduated from Eastridge High School in 1961. She went on to graduate from Genesee Hospital School of Nursing and Duchess Community College.

Randi took great pride in being an RN, was an active den mother in Cub Scouts, host mother in the Fresh Air program, a volunteer for “Meals on Wheels”, a lifelong member of the Girl Scouts, and her purpose in life was helping others.

Randi met Warren in high school in 1958 thanks to alphabetical seating. They married on Sept. 1, 1964 and moved to Schenectady, N.Y. for Warren to finish college and where they welcomed their first son, Teddy. In 1969, they moved to Chaumont, N.Y. and welcomed their second son, Donald. From there Warren’s career moved them to Hyde Park, N.Y. In 1980 they relocated to Maine, Randi and Warren both decided “No more moves. We are in Maine for keeps!”

Randi’s life will be remembered through many fun and interesting stories. She always stopped to help box turtles cross the road. She was known for making the best apple sauce, molasses cookies, rice crispy treats, lasagna, and challah bread. She loved art and was an avid painter, and she frequently exhibited at art shows like “Art in the Park” and “The Portland Sidewalk Art Festival.” She never forgot a birthday or holiday. She loved gifting flannel shirts at Christmas.

Randi enjoyed swimming, visiting Range Pond with family, and slow boat rides on Sebago. She would always say she had no “need for speed.” She played the banjo and the piano, and her favorite musicians included: The Beatles, Wings, John Denver, The Statler Brothers, and Charlie Puth (or “Charlie Pootch,” as she would say). She was a lifelong learner with particular interest in psychology, religion, massage therapy, and positive thinking. Norman Vincent Peale was her favorite author and major influence in her life. Randi loved motivational sayings such as “Never build a case against yourself,” and these mottos were displayed all around her home. Along with her husband, she loved animals and constantly had the companionship of a cat and dog.

Randi will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date.
