Mallett Brothers Band tickets now on sale

Tickets are available for a performance by the Mallett Brothers Band, an Americana rock band that is taking the stage at Buxton’s 250th birthday celebration at 6 p.m. Aug. 6 on the grounds of the Brewster Mansion.

The concert, which is expected to draw a large crowd due to the group’s popularity, is a fundraiser for the Dorcas Society of Hollis and Buxton, a women’s charitable organization.

Food will be available for purchase but people are welcome to bring their own.

Seating will not be provided so those attending can bring a low-backed chair or blanket. Glass, weapons, candles, sparklers and fires are prohibited. Narragansett One Foundation will sponsor fireworks at dusk.

Tickets are $25 and are available at eventbrite.com and at the gates, which open at 4:30 p.m. Children ages 4 and under are free.

Dollars for scholars

Five Bonny Eagle students have $1,000 more to put towards their college educations after Poland Spring awarded its annual Good Science Scholarships.

Shayla Harriman, Isabella Pothier, Elizabeth Forestiere, Thomas Horton and Cameron Ginter “aspire to pursue post-secondary education in the fields of engineering, environmental exercise and biomedical sciences, pharmacy and business,” according to a Poland Spring press release.

Heather Printup, community relations manager for Poland Spring, said the class of 2022 has faced a real challenge dealing with the pandemic during the majority of their high school experience while still excelling in their studies.
