Read all about library’s Print Run 5K

Baxter Memorial Library is celebrating its summer reading program with its second edition Print Run 5K at 7 p.m. Aug. 12.

The timed race is open to all ages and abilities. A kids fun run will precede the 5K at 6:30 p.m. Registration is not required.

Those who register for the 5K before Friday, July 22, will be guaranteed to receive a shirt, but a limited number of shirts will be available for those who sign up later.

Pre-race day online registration is $17.50; same-day registration at the event is $22.

The race starts at the library at 71 South St. If it is canceled due to inclement weather or other conditions beyond the organizers’ control, there will be no refunds.

Summer concert schedule

Andi Fawcett, singer, songwriter and musician, will perform from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at the gazebo in front of the municipal center at 75 South St.

Attendees should bring their own seating. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to Shaw Gym in the municipal center.

50 years ago

The American Journal reported July 26, 1972, that Mrs. Martha Towle and Mrs. Gerry Day were part of a group that saw Shirley Booth star in “Morning in a Funny Hat” at Ogunquit Playhouse.
