Power for about 1,200 people in Raymond and Gray was knocked out Saturday afternoon when a pickup truck crashed into a utility pole on Webbs Mills Road in Raymond.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred around 2:25 p.m. when a 2017 Ford Super Duty pickup truck driven by James Carroll, 51, of Raymond, went off the road. Sheriff’s deputies said Carroll’s pickup was totaled, but Carroll was evaluated by EMTs at the scene and did not suffer any serious injuries.

Deputies said a section of the road around 148 Webbs Mill Road was shut down because of the power pole and wires in the road.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but deputies said speed and alcohol appear to be factors.

Central Maine Power said 929 of its customers in Raymond and 333 in Gray lost power. They expected to have it restored by 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
