WinterKids is giving away $25,000 to organizations working to get kids outside and become more active.

In honor of the 10-year anniversary of the WinterKids Downhill 24, the regional nonprofit created the Downhill 24 Outdoor Fund to address barriers to healthy outdoor activity, including equipment, clothing and transportation.

The organization, school, or recreational program that garners the most votes from the public will receive $10,000, with $5,000 grants awarded to the next three organizations. Preference is given to organizations that pitch a plan to take place in the winter.

Applications are open until Aug. 15 at winterkids.org and member of the community can vote from Sept. 1-30. The winners will be announced Oct. 1.
