Frank L. Dennett

KITTERY POINT – Frank L. Dennett of Kittery Point passed away July 30, 2022, at the age of 83. He was born on August 27, 1938 in Portsmouth N.H., the eldest son of William E. and Lillian (Plummer) Dennett.

He was educated in Kittery schools and graduated from Traip Academy, Class of 1956. He attended Nasson College graduating with a BA in history in 1960. Frank then went on to marry Janet Johnston in 1960, whom he met in college. He was an insurance agent for 50 years working at William E Dennett Agency in Kittery until “retiring” in 2010.

Frank was active in many masonic organizations and was Past Master of Naval Lodge #184 AF&AM, Past High Priest of Maine Chapter #73 Royal Arch Masons, Past Master of Maine Council #7 Royal and Select Masters, Past Sovereign of Chalcedon Conclave #5 Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine, and a member of St. Amand Commandery #20 Knights Templar. He was an amateur radio operator- call sign W1YTW and was first licensed in 1953.

In the late 1980’s, Frank began his career in town politics and served 29 years on the Kittery Town Council.

Frank is survived by his wife Janet; daughter Katherine Dennett, son Frank Dennett and his wife Molly; brother Peter Dennett; grandson Andrew Dennett, granddaughter Allison Dennett; nephews Kevin Johnston and Keith Johnston, nieces Mary Dennett and Rebecca Bergeron; and sister-in-law Jackie Johnston.

He was predeceased by his parents; sister-in-law Karen Dennett, and brothers-in-law Kemp Johnston and Milton Johnston.
