Ralph A. Johnson III

PORTLAND – Ralph A. Johnson, III, 74, longtime resident of Portland, died August 4, 2022 at home.

Ralph was born Jan. 24, 1948 in Rumford. He was the son of Ralph A. Johnson, Jr. and Marion K. Johnson. Ralph graduated from Mulenberg College where he won an award for journalism. He worked for Hartford Insurance Co., ran a painting business with the late Michael Russell, and was a past president of Westbrook Kiwanis. He was an assistant manager of an Aubuchon Hardware.

Ralph was a participant in community soccer as a player and a coach, he enjoyed following soccer and auto racing. His hobbies were drawing and photography.

He is survived by his former wife and friend, Christine Johnson; and his two sisters, Ruth Hoaglin of Johnson City, Tenn. and Terry Karnan of Portsmouth, N.H.; and his daughter, Alison Verret of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and two grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a former wife, Sue, mother of his daughter.

The family invites you to a memorial service on Friday August 19 at 1 p.m. at Jones, Rich, & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. in Portland.
