The walk was originally planned for the town’s 250th birthday celebration, but organizers decided to reschedule the walk because of the large number of other events Aug. 5-7 during the town celebration.

The cemetery contains graves of many of the town’s historical figures, such as the Rev. Paul Coffin, who was the pastor of Tory Hill Congregational Church for six decades. Coffin died in 1821.

The society is making available the historical documentary “Buxton, Maine An American Story,”  produced by Saco River Community TV, at a cost of $25. To order a DVD, call 929-1684 or email [email protected]

School start draws near
