McKin removed from Superfund list

The former McKin Company Superfund Site located in Gray has been removed from the National Priorities List by the Environmental Protection Agency, allowing the reuse and/or redevelopment of the land to move forward.

Some restrictions remain and the EPA and the town have implemented measures to continue remediation, including a 2002 ordinance that prohibits drawing groundwater within a designated area surrounding the site. There are also restrictions on 21 subdividable properties within the designated area.

Residents who have questions should contact EPA Community Involvement Coordinator Charlotte Gray at 617- 918-1243. See epa.gov for more information.
