Robert Lee Coombs 1938 – 2022 HARPSWELL – Robert “Bob” Lee Coombs, 83, passed away at his home in Harpswell on Oct. 28, 2022. He was born Nov. 10, 1938 in Brunswick, a son of Harvey and Margaret (Cahill) Coombs. Bob attended Brunswick schools, he entered the United States Navy where he completed his education, serving from March 1, 1956 to Oct. 13, 1958. On June 20, 1964, Bob married Josephine Florence Durgin. Bob has been a lifelong resident of the Brunswick/Harpswell area. He was a self-employed residential building contractor in the local area for 37 years. He enjoyed antiques autos, collecting Maine antique number plates, antique tools, clamming and making clam chowder, scrapbooking the local area and traveling to Florida. He was predeceased by nine siblings; and is survived by his wife of 58 years, Josephine F. (Durgin) Coombs; his children and grandchildren, Karen Coombs and companion Nathaniel; Sue (Coombs) Beaucage and husband Lional, grandchildren Joseph and Isaiah, step-grandchild Morgan; Robert Coombs II and wife Lisa, grandchild, Acadia; Randy Coombs and wife Wanda, grandchild, Craig, great grandchildren, Emma, Avery and Paisley; Kevin Coombs, wife Jennifer, grandchildren, Baylei and Maddox; four sisters, Helen Vidiotta, Betty Nelson, Shirley Williams and Mona Lacasse; several nieces, nephews; and cousins. A funeral service will be held, 10 a.m., Monday Nov. 7 at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St. in Brunswick. Burial with military honors will follow at New Meadows Cemetery in Brunswick.
