Sheila Quinlan Williams 1937 – 2022 TOPSHAM – Sheila Quinlan Williams passed away peacefully in her home in Topsham on Oct. 21, 2022, surrounded by her dogs and some of her dear friends. Sheila was born Dec. 26, 1937, in Mt. Kisco, N.Y., to Frederick Fairchild Quinlan and Mariam Lilley Quinlan. She has one brother, Thomas Quinlan, who lives with his wife Sharon in Florida (they have three children, Deborah, Hilary and Trevor). Sheila has one daughter, Sarah Fairchild Burke, who lives in Mill Valley, Calif., with her husband Michael and their daughter, Emily. Sheila was a bright and lively presence in the lives of those who knew her. She grew up in Lake Forest, Ill., and lived for many happy years in a ranch home built by her late husband, Guy Williams in Paso Robles, Calif. In 2001, she moved with her friend Nancy Brown to Topsham. Sheila received her A.B. and M.A. in English Literature from Immaculate Heart College, in Hollywood, Calif. She earned her Ed.D. in Leadership at the University of San Diego. In a book she wrote about her struggles with mental illness, Sheila described herself as an educator, student, rancher, businessperson, consultant and researcher. A beloved mom and grandma, she was a cherished friend to many. A memorial mass will be held at St. Charles Borromeo in Brunswick on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. Her final resting place is Haley Cemetery in Topsham.
