Michael Beaudoin of Falmouth writes in favor of dropping Dilbert (“Letter to the editor: Good riddance, ‘Dilbert,’ ” Feb. 28). In the process he argues that if we fail to condemn hate in our society, we will diminish ourselves.

Is Mr. Beaudoin not exhibiting hate himself? Does he not hate racism? For myself, I believe hate is a very reasonable response to certain people or actions. Is there anything wrong with hating people who torture others? Fraudsters targeting the elderly? Drivers who hit a pedestrian and leave the scene?

It may be fashionable to hate hate, but that does not make it logical.
