Rita R. Prevost
PORTLAND – Rita R. Prevost, 87. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 5, 2023.
Rita was born on Nov. 15, 1935, to Armand and Pauline (Boisvert) Poliquin in St. Johnsbury Vt., the eldest of two children. She graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in 1953 and six months later started dating the love of her life, Gerard “Gerry” Prevost. On Oct. 27, 1956 they were married at Notre Dame Church and began their life together. One year later they welcomed their first daughter. She dedicated her life to her family, which grew to six children, all of whom she loved dearly and was very proud. She kept the home fires burning providing a wonderful home filled with love.
She was a devout Catholic all her life and followed and kept in touch with all those in her parish community. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and baking, and visiting with her friends.
Rita was predeceased (by only four weeks) by her beloved husband of 66 years, Gerard Prevost; her parents; and a sister, Simone (Richard) Lachance.
She is survived by her children, Julie (Alfred) Lucci of South Portland and their children, Emily (Jeremy) Guillette with Jayden, Lucas and Cole who was born on the day of her passing.
