BEMS’ Tripp county teacher of year

Lisa Tripp, a sixth grade science teacher at Bonny Eagle Middle School in Buxton, last week was named the York County Teacher of the year.

Tripp was nominated by Melissa Fries, a parent of a former student.

The Teacher of the Year award is administered by Educate Maine and the Maine Department of Education. The program looks for exemplary skills and a commitment of excellence nurturing achievement of all students.

“I teach because the future of the world is in my classroom today,” Tripp said. “I get to help connect my students to their community and beyond as they find ways to make it a better place for all.”

Tripp is one of the 16 county Teachers of the Year who are eligible to be selected next year as Maine Teacher of the Year.

Buxton seeks code enforcement secretary

The town is looking for a code enforcement secretary to provide general clerical and scheduling support for the code enforcement officer, Planning Board and Board of Appeals.
