Claire A. Croteau, 93, of Bradley Street, Saco, passed away Friday June 2, 2023, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born in Biddeford on Sept. 22, 1929, the daughter of Wilfred and Aurore Beaudette Picard.

Claire attended Biddeford schools and graduated from St. Andres High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for Bates and Pepperell Mills. Claire married Norman L. Croteau on Nov. 11, 1949.

She later worked as a bookkeeper for her family’s store, Norms Market, for many years. Claire enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing cards.

She was president of the Freemont Club, a member of Daughters of Isabella and the Red Hat Club. She and her husband enjoyed camping until they purchased a winter home in Winter Haven, Florida. Claire and Norm enjoyed many trips with the A&G Groceries.

She is predeceased by her husband, Norman L. Croteau.

Claire is survived by three daughters, Debra Lauzon of Biddeford and partner Dennis Munroe, Brenda Ringuette of Biddeford and husband Stephen, and Patricia Hurtubise of Biddeford and husband Roger, six grandchildren, James, Christopher, Matthew, Patrick, Andrew and Luke, five great-grandchildren, Bryden, Emerson, Anna, Grayden and Jack.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday June 23, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Elm Street, Biddeford. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Deering Park Section, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Norman. Mercy meal to follow at St. Joseph’s Church.
