As Mainers, we tend to be politically pragmatic. We consider how, when a public office acts, what happens, at national, state or local levels of public practice. Given that practical perspective on outcomes, consider the outcomes of one public office – that of sheriff, Sagadahoc County.
Joel Merry has served the county for more than two decades, providing thoughtful, energetic leadership of the county’s law enforcement resources. The merits of Merry’s tenure are perhaps best found in criminal activity numbers collected for all of Maine’s 16 counties.
Among those counties, Sagadahoc currently ranks fourth lowest in crime rate per 1,000 population at 0.53. By comparison, Sagadahoc’s adjacent county of Cumberland ranks at the top with a 6.13 score.
Enough numbers. Let’s just be practical. Just vote for Joel in November so he can continue to support Sagadahoc as being one of the safest places in Maine.
