HOUSE DISTRICT 105: North Yarmouth and part of Gray

Democrat Anne Graham is opposed by Republican Sue Austin. The two ran for House District 109 in 2008 and Austin won. In 2012, Graham won that same seat when she ran against Austin in the general election. Austin was last elected to the Maine House in 2020 but was not eligible to run in 2022 due to term limits.

Please give a brief rundown of your leadership experience.

I served in the Maine House from 2010-2014; I was on the State and Local Government Committee and was the chair of the committee from 2012-2014. I also served on the North Yarmouth Select Board from 2007-2010 and from 2016-2019.

What are your top priorities and why?

A middle class tax cut, child abuse prevention, affordable housing and affordable health care.

What are your top two concerns about the economy, and what would you do to address them if elected to the Legislature?

My main concern is that the middle class is being squeezed. I would strongly support assistance to first-time homebuyers, a middle income tax cut and reining in property taxes without hurting our schools. My next main concern is about child abuse and neglect. My focus will be on prevention to help children and their families “upstream” by strengthening family and community systems.
