Relevant experience: I have volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters Southern Maine; Greater Portland Family Promise; been a local housing and economic justice advocate; served on the steering committee of the College of the Atlantic; and was a small business owner of Bar Harbor Tour Co.
Why are you running for office? Portland has supported me for years, and I would be honored to give back as a state representative. Portland is facing complex challenges and we need bold, compassionate solutions at the state level to face them. Portland is changing, and we must act now to make our community affordable, resilient and inclusive.
What are your top three legislative priorities? Affordable housing – we need state support to lower rents, build more affordable housing (including housing-first units to address homelessness), and make homeownership more accessible and sustainable for the working class. Climate change – Portland is already feeling the effects of climate change, and we must be proactive about protecting our community in the face of uncertainty. Economic justice – lowering costs is only one part of the equation; workers in Portland must have greater economic power and democratic control over their workplaces.
