Norman W. Thomson, 83, of Saco, Maine, and Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away on Oct. 5, at Gulfside Hospice in Zephyrhills.
He was born on Nov. 21, 1940, in Queens, New York, to Norman Thomson Sr. and Isabel (Riddle) Thomson.
After high school, Norman served four years in the Air Force. He then attended Long Island University where he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He worked as an accountant, then changed careers and joined the Plumbers/Pipefitters Local Union 457 out of New York. It was during his time working for the Union that he met and married the love of his life Nancy (Libby) Thomson in 1989. Nancy shared his love of traveling and together they enjoyed visiting other states and took several cruise trips. In later years, Norman worked at the Portsmouth Navy Shipyard, then for the United States Postal Service where he worked until retirement. Once retired, Norman and Nancy spent their summers in Saco and winters in Zephyrhills.
Norman is survived by: his stepchildren, Steven Hill and spouse Teddy of New York, Randy Hill and wife Rebecca of Saco, Susan Jewett of Biddeford; and a daughter-in-law Dianne Hill of Saco; his grandchildren, Christie, Heather, Randi, Kelsea, Makenzie, and Joshua; and five great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Nancy; two stepsons, David and Dennis Hill; his parents, Norman and Isabel Thomson; and stepmother, Margaret (Margie) Thomson.
At Norman’s request, there will be no funeral service or calling hours. Interment will be at Laurel Hill cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 10:30 a.m.
