WESTBROOK — Ten people were displaced Monday by a fire that heavily damaged a multi-occupancy single-story dwelling in Westbrook, according to fire officials. No injuries were reported.
Westbrook firefighters responded to the fire around noon, helped by the Windham, Falmouth and Portland fire departments, according to Westbrook Deputy Fire Chief Brian Langerman. Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire, but believe it started in the basement.
Langerman said firefighters did an excellent job quickly responding to the fire to prevent excessive damage to the structure.
Bridgton Road (Route 302) was temporarily closed between East Bridge Street and Pride/Brook Streets due to the fire but reopened around 2:30 p.m.
