Marijean (Vigneault) Whittemore Warren

SANFORD – Marijean Vigneault Whittemore Warren, 93, of Sanford, formerly of Quincy, Mass., entered into eternal rest on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, following a period of declining health.

Born in Vermont to Joseph R. and Jeannette (Belanger) Vigneault, she later moved to the Squantum neighborhood of Quincy, Mass., where she attended Quincy Public Schools and was a 1948 graduate of North Quincy High School.

Following high school, Marijean married Philip S. Whittemore, and together they raised four wonderful children in the Wollaston neighborhood of Quincy, Mass. She treasured summers spent camping in Plymouth, Mass., with Phil, their children, and her brother-in-law, Richard. A devoted homemaker, Marijean found joy in gardening, sewing, cooking, and baking. She was known as a tremendous baker who loved trying new recipes while also perfecting cherished family favorites passed down through generations.

Once her children were older, she acquired her driver’s license and took a part-time job at Miltons – The Store for Men. After Phil’s retirement, the couple relocated to Sanford, where they embraced a quieter pace of life while still enjoying travel and spending time with family and friends until Phil’s passing in 2007, after 53 years of marriage.

In 2007, Marijean reconnected with a childhood friend and classmate, David A. Warren, and the two married in early 2008. Together, Marijean and Dave were active members of St. George’s Episcopal Church, volunteered at the Sanford Food Pantry, vacationed in Boothbay Harbor, and cherished time spent with family and friends. They shared 15 wonderful years together until Dave’s passing in 2022.

Marijean cared deeply for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to recognize a birthday, hosted many holiday gatherings, and prioritized the major milestones in her family’s lives. Marijean will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Marijean is survived by her four children, Scott (Irene) Whittemore of Weymouth, Mass., Shirley Whitaker (Bruce) of Fryeburg, Sandra Whittemore of Blackstone, Mass., and Steven (Kathleen) Whittemore of East Bridgewater, Mass.; brother-in-law, Richard (Fran) Whittemore and nephew John Whittemore of Canton, Mass.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Philip S. Whittemore, and second husband, David A. Warren.

A celebration of life is being planned and will take place at a later date.
