Irene (La Pauze) Walker
TOPSHAM – Irene (La Pauze) Walker, 100, passed away peacefully Dec. 17, 2025, at her home in Topsham.
Irene was born in West New York, N.J., on Sept. 20, 1925 to Armand and Pauline (Fischbach) LaPauze. Her family relocated to Brick, N.J. in the late 1930s and she graduated from Point Pleasant Beach High School in 1943. She met and married Marvin Walker of Centuria, Wis. on Dec. 17, 1944, while he was still serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Irene worked at Point Pleasant Hospital in the medical records department, and later for Dr. David Siebert, also in Point Pleasant. She was an accomplished dancer and avid photographer and artist, specializing in watercolors, and taught classes locally. She was a member of the Manasquan River Artist’s Group.
Irene was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Walker; daughter, Sharon (Millard) Thompson, and son, Chuck Walker.
She is survived by her son, Joe Walker and his wife Lisa; her granddaughter Bonnie (Chris) Schuman of Exton, Pa.; and her great-nephews Curtis (Marlene) Baer, Lawrence (Grace) Baer, great-niece, Janet (Jeffrey) Reitz, and their respective children.
