Acclaimed Maine Chef Cara Stadler has advanced to the final round of the CBS cooking competition show, “America’s Culinary Cup.”

In the finale on Wednesday, Stadler will vie against Chris Morgan, a Michelin-starred Virginia chef, and Bocuse D’Or gold medalist chef Matt Peters. The $1 million grand prize is the largest payout ever for a culinary competition show.

The three finalists have bested 13 other competitors since the show kicked off its first season in March. In the semifinal round Wednesday, Stadler’s second-highest score in the initial challenge spared her from the head-to-head elimination round between Morgan and two-time “Top Chef” champion Buddha Lo.

“It was very nice to not have to go again,” said Stadler, who competed while she was pregnant with her second daughter, Lina. The show was shot in Canada over about a month during Stadler’s second trimester.

Stadler has been nominated for seven James Beard Awards, and was named a Food & Wine magazine Best New Chef in 2014. She was former chef and co-owner of Brunswick restaurants Tao Yuan and ZaoZe Cafe and Portland’s Bao Bao Dumpling House.

The show’s final episode challenges the three chefs to reimagine signature dishes from guest judges Suzanne Goin, Eric Ripert and Daniela Soto-Innes. The chef with the lowest score will be eliminated, while the last two will cook three-course meals with the grand prize at stake.

“I was jazzed to be on the show, and I feel really proud of how far I’ve gotten,” Stadler said. “And it’s nice to represent Maine.”
