I’m writing to support of the candidacy of Rachel Phipps for state representative from Kennebunk. Over several decades, Phipps has demonstrated “above and beyond” commitment to our community in a variety of ways. Aside from her past experience on RSU 21 School Board and the Kennebunk Select Board, Phipps has devoted her professional life to helping people facing serious challenges — including those belonging to groups that are too often overlooked or marginalized.
Anyone who has followed the news is aware that federal support for social “safety net” programs across the nation has been significantly curtailed or eliminated. In order to maintain a bulwark at the state level, to reduce the destructive effects of these federal actions, we need a Legislature that proactively meets this challenge. Rachel Phipps would be a natural fit for this role and that’s why I’ll be voting for her in the primary election on June 9.
