Brickyard Hollow Brewing Company will host a fundraiser and sell a limited-release beer at its flagship location in Yarmouth to raise funds for Time to Compete, a Yarmouth-based organization that supports young adults undergoing treatment for cancer.

The brewery will host an outdoor gathering on June 20 at its Main Street location. The event will include live music, cornhole, raffles and giveaways, as well as the chance to purchase a case of the limited-release Kölsch called “Time to Compete.” Brickyard Hollow will sell 85 cases of the beer for $200 per case and all proceeds will go to the nonprofit.

Time to Compete was founded by Gibson Harnett, a Yarmouth native, 2017 graduate of Yarmouth High School and standout baseball player and friend. He died in 2024 at age 24 after he was diagnosed the year before with late-stage cancer.

Following his diagnosis, “time to compete” became both Harnett’s mantra and the community’s rallying cry. Inspired by support from family, friends and the wider Yarmouth community, Harnett created a nonprofit to assist other cancer patients ages 19-29 in navigating the mental, physical and financial strains of a cancer diagnosis.

“We have to do the same thing for other people that are suffering — and not from grief necessarily — but certainly for something really mind blowing: the challenges that a cancer diagnosis brings to a young adult,” said Kendall Harnett, Gibson Harnett’s father.

The nonprofit, carried on largely by his family and friends, partners with hospitals to provide gift cards, care kits, transportation and peer connection to young patients who are too old for pediatric care but are still new to navigating adulthood.

The label on the beer carries Gibson Hartnett’s motto and his handwriting. Kendall Harnett, who is Time to Compete’s board president, said that if all the cases are sold, the funds would be able to support 50 adults navigating cancer diagnoses.

“What you’re doing is, you’re making a donation to cancer, and you’re getting to these young adults who really are in a weird niche gap, and then you’re also getting beer because of your donation,” said Kendall Harnett, who has also worked in marketing and philanthropy for Brickyard Hollow.

Brickyard Hollow has supported Time to Compete since 2024, selling a limited-release pale ale in support of the nonprofit two years ago and lending its parking lot for Time to Compete fundraisers during the Yarmouth Clam Festival.

“Time to Compete is a great cause and the Harnetts are a great family,” said Brickyard Hollow owner and president Brad Moll.  “Being such a strong part of the community, we wanted to help however we could.”
