I’m 77 years old and a lifelong Democratic. In 1968, I had the pleasure of meeting Hubert Humphrey when he was on the campaign trail. He lost the presidency, obviously ,but no one questioned his integrity.

Graham Platner was a mistake from day one. Now we (the Democrats) have to pick up the pieces. What were the powers that be thinking when they backed Platner? The allegations against him were numerous and credible.

I’m no political expert, but it was clear to me that his candidacy was bound to fail. If the Democrats don’t take the U.S. Senate, Maine may be to blame.
