Winter has arrived in Westbrook with a vengeance.
The recent Dec. 16 storm brought 4 inches of new snow, followed by almost two inches of rainfall. The resultant slush accumulation lead to storm drain blockages and street flooding throughout the city. Public Services crews worked through the night of Dec. 16 to unplug storm drain covers and scrape streets before freeze-up.
Storms of this nature pose a challenge to Public Services due in large measure to the rapid freezing that occurs at the end of the event. The Public Services Department takes great pride in its ability to keep Westbrook Streets safe and passable during and after snow events. Westbrook citizens can assist with Public Services efforts by:
Observing posted parking restrictions and making every effort to keep city streets free of vehicular obstruction.
Observing city regulations regarding the pushing of driveway snow in to the public way.
Calling the Public Services Department at 854-0660 to report snow and ice related problems in the public way.
