FAIRFIELD — The Brunswick High school girls jayvee orange basketball team completed its season on Friday, falling to Lawrence 55-49. Despite the loss, the Dragons completed the season with 13 wins.
The Bulldogs held a commanding edge at the charity strip, sinking 18-of-36 shots, while Brunswick converted 8-of-22. After the first quarter the Bulldogs held a onepoint advantage, but both teams heated up in the second frame, although Lawrence sustained its lead, heading into halftime with a score of 30-24.
Aidan Sachs led the Dragons offensively with 15 points, while Alicia Armstrong contributed 12 points. Bulldogs Molly Folsom led all scorers with 18 points, with Camryn Caldwell adding 12.
Brianna Newton, who returned from an ankle injury that shortened much of her season, and Kolby Levesque were noted for strong play on defense.
“This is a very talented group,” Brunswick coach Hugh Dwyer said about his squad’s improvement over the season. “I expect that a number of these girls will contribute at the varsity level next season.”
