The Gorham School Committee unanimously approved a $329,952 budget last week for students Gorham sends to Portland Arts & Technology High School (PATHS) and Westbrook Regional Vocational Center (WRVC).

It marked the committee’s first budget action of 2007.

“It was the kickoff for the new budget year,” said school department business manager Paul Kelly on Tuesday.

Gorham’s vocational budget is up from $308,530, a 6.9 percent increase from a year ago.

Under the new budget, revenue to PATHS for Gorham students will be $123,039, representing a drop of $1,491 from $124,530 last year; WRVC will receive $206,913, an increase of $22,913 from $184,000.

Gorham will receive a state subsidy of $212,159 for its 64 vocational students, leaving a net cost of $117,793, averaging $1,841 per student.

The committee will send its entire recommended school budget to the town council sometime in the spring.
