Westbrook High School varsity baseball coach John Eisenhart recently stepped down from that position he’s held for the last five years.

The Blazes finished with an overall record of 9-8 this past season – knocking off Windham in a regional prelim before falling at Gorham in a quarterfinal match-up.

In 2005, Westbrook won the West A regional title and appeared in the state championship game.

“Obviously, John is leaving the program in much better shape than when he took over five years ago,” said Westbrook athletic director Todd Sampson.

Westbrook has already posted the coaching vacancy and Sampson has had numerous inquiries about the position. “We want to get the process started and get the best available candidate,” Sampson said. “Hopefully the new coach will be able to feed off what John’s done the past five years.”
