Since 1994, he has traveled to Haiti on nine volunteer medical trips providing free urological surgical care to those in need.
Bowdoin College recognized Broaddus for his international volunteer medical service as the 2003 recipient of its Common Good Award and similarly, the University of Vermont College of Medicine presented him with The Service to Medicine and Community Award in 2004 for his work.
