Players to watch: Seniors: John Ames, Luke Boucher, Ricky Hoyt, Casey McKague, Brian Moskevich and Joey Marro

Outlook: “We are looking for daily improvement in all aspect of the program,” Sawyer said. “We have improved our playing facility, we have changed our approach to the game, and we are constantly improving our practice habits. My hope is that these changes will lead to improved play on the field and an overall positive experience for these student/athletes.”

Coach: Jan Corliss (26th year)

How did last year end? Lost to South Portland in quarterfinals

Players to watch: Aimee Bradbury, Kelly Bradbury, Averi Cole, Hannah Goodale, Connie Grovo, Lashawna Jackson, Maegen Johnson, Maddie Kluna, Rachel Porter, Messina Provencher, Dani Roma, Krista Saulsbury, Stefanie Stockwell, Jordan VanRosendael, Lauren Wallace, Ashley Weeman

Outlook: “We lost five or six players from last year and we only have six returning,” Corliss said. “Last year our JV and freshman teams only lost one game so I think we’ll be tough. We have an athletic team this year that can really do it all. The question will be can they do it when it counts?”

Boys Lacrosse

Coach: Nathaniel Germond (4th year)

Last year’s record: 6-6

How did last year end? Lost to Deering in quarterfinals

Players to watch: Senior captains: Kayle Hamilton (mid.), Marco Stefano (goalkeeper) and Brett Dostie (att.) junior: Zach Litif (att.)

Outlook: “We’re very optimistic,” Germond said. “We made the playoffs last year and we’re looking to go deeper this year.”

Girls Lacrosse

Coach: Judy Martin (4th year)

Last year’s record: 6-7

How did last year end? Lost to Portland in quarterfinals

Players to watch: Amy Richardson, Becky King, Lindsay Bradeen

Coach’s outlook: “We’re looking for a better than .500 season,” said Martin. “Our leading scorer from last year is back. We should make the playoffs.”

Boys Tennis

Coach: Tim Gleason (2nd year)

Last year’s record: 1-11

How did last year end? Missed playoffs

Players to watch: Andy Bingham, Ben Hall, Zach Cary, Todd Thompson and Darren Jefferies

Outlook: “We lost five of our top seven from last year,” Gleason said. “That’s like a basketball team losing four of their starting five. Our numbers are way up which is good. We have 18 kids out this year. There are a lot of freshmen, which is good for down the road. I think by midseason we will be better. Some of our guys have never played before so we will definitely improve.”

Girls Tennis

Co-Coaches: Debra Semle (2nd year) and Vince Kane (1st year)

How did last year end? Missed playoffs

Players to watch: Maria Hall, Karli Kesson, Erynn Brayley, Mary Doehler and Chelsea Kennie

Outlook: “We are looking forward to an exciting season,” said Semle. “Between having some experienced players back from last year and some promising new players, it will be exciting to see what happens on the court this year.”

Coach: Greg Wilkinson (20th year)

How did last year end? Seventh at the state meet

Athletes to watch: Murphy Doughty, Tim Belanger, Mao Ye, Jamie Ruginski

Outlook: The Scots were strong indoors and with many of the same athletes competing outdoors, they should be one of the better teams in the league.

How did last year end? Ninth at the state meet

Athletes to watch: Katlyn Gardiner-senior (100m hurdles), Lauren Dudley-sophomore (2 mile, mile), Melissa Carrier-sophomore (100m dash), Sarah Ferry-sophomore (100m hurdles), Morgan Costa-freshman (200m dash)

Outlook: “We have some of the top sprinters in the state and one of the top distance runners,” Turrell said. “Our 4x200m relay team of Katlyn Gardiner, Morgan Costa, Peyton Dostie, and Melissa Carrier was the top Maine team at the indoor New England Track and Field championship meet. Lauren Dudley is one of the state’s top distance runners. We will be very competitive in all the running events in the SMAA. Our weakness will be in the throwing events.”
