PORTLAND — The Veranda Street on-ramp for southbound Interstate 295 will close this evening and remain so over the weekend.
The closure is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The on-ramp is expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Monday.
The closure is taking place so construction crews can repair a bridge joint on the St. Lawrence and Atlantic railroad overpass on southbound I-295.
The state Department of Transportation said it decided to close the on-ramp on the weekend to minimize the impact on weekday commuters.
The work is part of a larger effort to repair and improve I-295. The work is expected to last through the fall.
