BRUNSWICK — Greely scored three goals in the first five minutes of the second period en route to a 4-1 Eastern girls high school hockey victory over Brunswick on Saturday at Sidney J. Watson Arena.
Leading 1- 0 after a firstperiod goal by Shannon Donavan, Ceci Hodgkins, Paige Tuller and Meg Finlay scored 2:42 apart early in the second for a 4-0 Rangers advantage.
Rachel Moroney scored on a power play for Brunswick at 9:04 of the second period for the Dragons’ lone goal. Suzannah Smith picked up an assist.
“ We came out flying and had some solid moments, but Greely is a good team and is very tough,” said Brunswick coach Bill Bodwell, whose team is second in the East with an 11-3-1 mark, behind 12-2 Greely, which won both games with the Dragons this season.
Greely held a 32- 16 shot advantage, with Brunswick netminders Erin Gay and Claire Mendes combining on 28 saves. Rangers goaltender Emma Seymour turned aside 15 shots.
Sarah Kurland picked up two assists for the victors, with Etta Copenhagen assisting on one goal.
Brunswick is slated to visit Portland on Thursday at 5 p.m.
