AUGUSTA — Trent Anderson scored 14 points and Garrett Erb 12 as the Brunswick High School boys basketball team held off a late Cony run for a 54-42 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory on Friday.

“Great win for us, especially on the road,” said Brunswick coach Todd Hanson, whose team improved to 8- 4 and plays host to Lawrence on Tuesday at 7 p.m. “Trent really stepped up and got us off to a great start, scoring 10 of his points in the first quarter. Garrett was exceptional on defense, holding (Cony standout) Walker Cooper to five points.”

The Dragons jumped out to a 20-12 first-quarter lead and pulled away to a 36-22 halftime lead. The 4-8 Rams battled back, outscoring Brunswick 12-6 in the third quarter to close to 42-32, but Brunswick finished nine of 11 at the line to hold on.

Zack Lachance led Cony with nine points, with Ben Lucas chipping in eight points and a like number of rebounds.

Jordan Jones popped for 24 points, five assists and four steals as the Wolverines rolled to a Mountain Valley Conference win on Friday over the 2-10 Ramblers.

Wiscasset posted quarter leads of 13-8, 25-13 and 38-22.

Travis Padilla and Jason Weatherbee each had seven points and six rebounds for Wiscasset, which was 13 of 16 at the foul line. Austin Haskell dished out three assists and had four steals.

Dakota Carter led Winthrop with nine points, while Ty Foster chipped in seven. The Ramblers were six of 15 at the charity stripe.

The host Wolverines picked up a second MVC win over the Greyhounds in a week as Jones scored 14 and Caleb Bryant added 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Jones dished out nine assists and picked up four steals as Wiscasset improved to 7-5 with its fifth consecutive win and hosts undefeated Dirigo tonight at 7 p.m.

Wiscasset jumped out to a 20-10 first quarter lead, led 40- 19 at the half and 54- 23 through three quarters.

Weatherbee joined Bryant with a double-double, scoring 11 points and pulling down 11 caroms. The Wolverines were 13 of 19 at the line, and Dale Peaslee chipped in seven points.

Tucker Brannon paced 1-11 Lisbon, which visits Telstar tonight, with nine points. Mason Haley had seven points, three assists and two steals, and Kendal Roy added four points. The Greyhounds finished six of 13 at the line.
