BRUNSWICK — A 37-year-old Brunswick man was taken to Parkview Adventist Medical Center on Friday afternoon after his bicycle collided with a car on Maine Street.
Karl Gnauck, 37, of 1 Center St., was riding north along Maine Street when a 2011 Subaru driven by 51-year-old Elizabeth Poland of Andover, Mass., attempted to pull into a parking spot in front of Riley Insurance, Deputy Chief Marc Hagan of the Brunswick Police Department said Monday.
Gnauck, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, was taken to Parkview with complaints of pain. His condition was not available this morning.
The crash remains under investigation, Hagan said.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
