BOWDOINHAM — Merrymeeting Arts Center will accept work Saturday and Sunday for its “Farm, Food and Families” art show for artists 18 and younger.

Art for the show can be delivered to the center between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, or between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday. The Merrymeeting Arts Center is located at 9 Main St.

The theme for this year’s youth art show is “Farm, Food and Families,” and work in any genre is welcome. While the arts center appreciates work that is framed, “we understand that may be difficult for young artists so we will accept it unframed and without mats,” a release states.

Artists age 18 and younger are encouraged to participate. Those interested in participating, or their teachers, should email Merrymeeting Arts Center at merrymeetingartscenter@gmail.com or call Peggy Muir, curator of Merrymeeting Arts Center, at 666- 3426; or Lee Parker, manager of Merrymeeting Arts Center, at 841-5914.

Work must be delivered to the Merrymeeting Arts Center on the dates and time listed above, and picked up Sunday, June 10 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

If work sells, artists receive 70 percent of the price. Work needs to be clearly labeled on the back with the name of the artist, name of the piece, genre, and price if it will be for sale.

Young artists need to attend a workshop on presenting themselves and their work. The workshop runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Artists unable to attend the workshop must call Muir at 666-3426 to make alternate arrangements.

Artists are expected to attend the opening reception, which will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 3.

Merrymeeting Arts Center “encourages art, education and community celebrating the cultural heritage and natural environment of Merrymeeting Bay. Inspired and guided by the eclectic values of the life and spirit of Bryce Muir, the Center joyfully promotes egalitarianism, whimsy, environmental consciousness, and diversity through its artists, programs and projects.”

The center is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and other hours by appointment.
