BATH — The Long Reach Swim Club of the Bath Area Family YMCA beat Mt. Desert Island 637-567 and Penobscot Bay of Rockport, 767.50-393.50 in recent action.

In the MDI event, Caitlin Tycz set a pool record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.26. Also, the girls 200 medley relay team of Jessica Russell, Sonia Lin, Tycz and Celia Ouellette set a pool record with a time of 1:51.41.

In the girls 200 free relay, another pool record was set by Jessica Russell, Ouellette, Tycz and Tessa Lindsley with a time of 1:40.90.

“We had a lot of newer swimmers make the trip up and that made a huge difference for us,” said head coach Jay Morissette.

Also, the boys 8-and-under 100 free relay team of Keegan Rowe, William Kimber, Andrew Leighton and Aiden Saunders set the tone for the meet by winning the relay by six seconds.

At the Bowdoin Open, held last weekend, team records were set by Lin in 13-14 girls (100 breaststroke, 1:08.10) and Tycz in 13-14 girls (100 free, 52.56; 200 free, 1:55.71; 500 free, 5:17.29; 50 butterfly, 26.70; 100 butterfly, 56.33; 200 fly, 2:09.48).

Also, the senior girls 800 free relay of Tycz, Jessica Russell, Lindsley and Lynsie Russell (7:55.84) and 400 medley relay of Jessica Russell, Lin, Tycz and Celia Ouellette (3:57.34), while the 400 free relay of Jessica Russell, Tycz, Lindsley and Ouellette set a team/state record (3:33.01).

The girls team placed fourth overall with 904 points, while the boys were 11th with 279. LRSC was eighth overall.

Jessica Russell finished fifth in the girls high-point scoring and Tycz was 10th.
