TOPSHAM — Marion Elizabeth Ward passed away on Wednesday evening, January 9, 2013 at home.

She was born on May 15, 1923 in the same home in which she died. Her parents were the late William & Eliza Cheetham.

Marion was a life-long parishioner of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brunswick. She was a member of the Altar Guild for many years. Mrs. Ward was also a 75-year member of the Topsham Grange and a member of the Women’s’ Auxiliary of the Topsham Volunteer Fire Department.

She loved going on Sunday rides with friends and family, picnics, gardening and family gatherings. She was an accomplished seamstress and cross-stitcher. As a young mother, she and six close friends started a sewing group called The Seven Stitchers and they gathered weekly for more than 50 years.

Marion was predeceased by her parents, her brothers William and John Cheetham, and her husbands Elwood Campbell and Virgil Ward.

Marion was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son Dennis Campbell and wife Karen of Annapolis, MD; son Peter Campbell and companion Allen Bubar of Topsham, brother Donald Cheetham and sister-in-law Peggy of Brunswick, stepdaughter Linda Ward Synnefakis and John of Owl’s Head, stepson Louie Ward and Loretta of Harpswell, grandson Geoffrey Campbell and Ann of Annapolis, MD. She is also survived by great granddaughter Meghan Campbell. She also has several step grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews surviving her.

No services will be held at this time, however, in honor of one of Marion’s favorite activities, a memorial picnic will be held later this year.

Friends and family are invited to make donations to either Coastal Humane Society of Brunswick, or to CHANS Hospice Care of Brunswick.
