BRUNSWICK — Paul J. “Tibby” Thibodeau, age 90, of Bath Road, died Friday, July 5, 2013, at the Hillhouse in Bath.

He was born in Waterville on January 20, 1923, the son of Nelson and Etta Clair Thibodeau. He attended Lewiston schools.

On November 21, 1942, he married Irene T. Gamache. She died on July 13, 2001.

Paul started working at the Cabot Mill in Brunswick at the age of eighteen where he met his wife of 59 years. He continued working in the mills for several years but always had an interest in the used and antique car business. However, he didn’t get started in the car business until many years later.

It began with Paul opening a Shell gas station on the Bath Road. The business progressed to Tibby Motor Sales, which he owned and operated for many, many years. Tibby was one of the oldest used car dealers in the state of Maine, retiring at age 83.

His pride and joy of all the cars he owned over the years was a 1941 Packard limousine. He enjoyed taking his wife for rides in it on Sunday afternoons. He also enjoyed working outside in his yard and growing gardens each year.

He was a member of the Maine Obsolete Auto League (MOAL) and the Antique Car Club.
