LISBON FALLS — Donald J. Moon, 73, of Lisbon Falls, died peacefully at Central Maine Medical Center on Dec. 17, 2013, with his family by his side.

Born in West Virginia, he was the son of Erma Gallion and Donald C. Moon. After graduating from Bruce High School in Allegany County, Md., in 1958 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served our country for over 20 years in various locations throughout the United States ending his career in VP11 at NAS Brunswick, Maine. After retirement, he was employed by Lockheed Martin and retired from Bath Iron Works.

He was a member of the American Legion, and the NRA. He enjoyed salt-water fishing, and enjoyed photography. He also enjoyed sightseeing with his children, reading, and ceramics. He had a passion for visiting various lighthouses and beaches throughout coastal Maine.

He was predeceased by his son Donald S. Moon in 1990.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Moon; daughter Jerrianne Moon and her husband Philip of Wiscasset; daughter Jeannette Walker of Wiscasset; daughter Rita Gordon and her husband Michael of Wiscasset; a son Charles “Vinny” Moon and companion Mary of Lisbon Falls; nine grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; and his beloved cat Frankie.

A memorial service to celebrate Don’s life will be held Dec. 23 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.

Arrangements are entrusted by Staple’s Funeral Home in Gardiner. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local Veteran’s Home, VFW, Salvation Army, or Local Humane Society. These were some of his most cherished charities that he supported.
