Mary Geron Pitt died on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, in Brunswick, Maine. She was born on May 28, 1925, in Mobile, Ala., daughter of Hereford C. and Mary (Greet) Geron. She was educated in the Mobile school systems.
In 1944, she met David L. Pitt when he was stationed at Pensacola, Fla., and they married in Mobile on Nov. 16, 1945. When he was released from the Navy, their next two years were spent in Connecticut while he completed his degree at Wesleyan University. Their long and happy married life was spent in several New England locations raising their four children. In retirement, they settled in Brunswick in 1981 which in a short time became their special home. Wherever they lived, both enjoyed supporting volunteer and community activities. Mary enjoyed many forms of fine embroidery and crafts.
Mary was predeceased by her husband in June 2009; her son David Jr. in December 2009; and brothers H.C. Geron Jr. and Farrington Geron. Survivors include their daughters Leslie Russo and husband Philip of Halifax, MA; Ellen Barry and husband John of Eddington, ME; and Christine Pitt of Georgetown, MA. Grandchildren include Alex and Jessica Barry; Lindsay Russo and Brian Bragg; Heather and Cole Baines; and Stephen D. and Kristie Pitt. Great-grandchildren include Kayla Baines; Mason and Gavin Pitt; and Brenna Bragg.
There will be no visiting hours. Arrangements are in the care of Brackett’s Funeral Home, Federal Street, Brunswick ME.
